4 skills if you have them will completely change your life

I know your Desperation.
I know your willingness.
I can feel your passion.
I know how you dream day in and day out about this one single thing.
I know you want it at any cost.
I know you have a strong goal, and you are even striving for it.
But I also know there is something that you are missing out on.
The willingness to achieve the goal is not the same as the willingness to work for the Goal.
You want the goal, but the Goal wants so much more from you.
And that’s what you are unaware of.
You have the clarity of your destination but how the journey is going to be, is still vague.
You have the determination to harness your potential but what you will need to build it is still not known.
I know you are super excited to climb the rungs of the ladder of life, but what it needs to climb is something much more than excitement.
No goal works independently of you.
It walks parallel with you.
Once you understand that you need to build yourself to build your Goal, you have to further step down more in the water to understand what you really need to build yourself.
And the smallest building block is Skill.
What is a Skill?
Skill is a set of tools that you need for building your goal.
It’s like if your goal is to make a pizza, Skill is the knowledge of the recipe and ingredients required to make a pizza.
The gap between you and your goal is the Skill. The more you work on your Skill, the more you cover this gap.
The goal that looks impossible is not because it is difficult, it is because the gap is still big and intact.
The goal is the wall you want, and Skill is everything that you need to make it.
One big myth that is lost on most of us is, we have to work on the goal to build it.
The truth is our goal is built when we work on ourselves.
Goal is lifeless, it’s you who bring life into it.
The Mindset That Fails
You do not fail, it’s the mindset that makes you fail.
Give me a moment to explain!
When there is a goal that you want to achieve, the first instinct is that you start figuring out what you will need so that you can achieve your goal.
You focus and start working on the matter that directly relates to your goal.
Example: Let me talk about myself.
I want to become a Writer. As I’m not a born Writer but someone who found very late in life, the inclination towards writing.
My first step was to write and then was to find what I needed to sharpen my craft.
I focused on everything that could enhance my writing skill and help me grow as a Writer.
I searched for every great Writer and read them so that I could get their secrets and implement them with my creativity.
While I was working on all the skills that were required to become flawless at writing, I was missing out on something more important than all these Skills.
I believed I could run circles around many of the great writers if I become successful in honing my writing.
My perception about becoming a great Writer was just to be Great at Writing.
But that was honestly not enough!
There were things that I needed to build so that I could not just be great at writing but make my journey of Writing great as well.
This is the mindset that fails. The Mindset of assuming that you need only the technical skills to excel and build your Goal.
4 skills that no goal can be achieved without
No matter what your goal is, there are 4 skills that you will need above all.
These 4 skills are the ones that might not relate directly to your goal, but they are the key skills that no goal can be achieved without.
They are called Primary skills.
Despite building the Skill that your Goal requires, you cannot excel if you do not work on building your Primary skills.
Success is neither instant nor is it permanent. It comes with its highs and l with its own timelines.
The idea is to understand that you need skills not only specific to your goal but the ones that can keep your boat sailing when the sailing becomes tough.
So, I’m not writing this blog post to teach you what Skills will help you achieve your goal, but the ones that will help you not lose yourself when your Goal comes with its challenges.
I know you know what all you need to become a Doctor, Painter, Cricketer, Influencer, Entrepreneur or whatever your goal is but what I want to teach you is what all you will need to not let anything stop you from becoming one.
Have a Deadline but don’t let the breaking of the Deadline make you Dead
The Goal looks great, it tempts you, it attracts you, it is magnetic but the journey to reach the goal is less likely to keep you hooked.
The deadline to achieve your goal is important so that your mind has an inbuilt needle ticking and telling you how much and how short you are running out of time.
But don’t let the deadline be your final line.
Failing a deadline never means Failure.
What I want to build here in this step is one of the most important skills that many of us fail.
Patience!
This might sound very common and very obvious.
Almost every self-help post talks about Patience.
Let me uncover the monotony that this word has filled you with.
The first misconception that most of us have is: Patience is waiting!
Patience is not waiting but believing in the pace of your progress.
It’s great you have a Deadline for your Goal but it’s important to not let the Deadline make you Dead if it’s not met.
Follow these 3 rules to build Patience:
- You take things seriously when you pay a price for it. And the price for your Goal is the Time you will have to invest and the obstacles that you will need to embrace.
- The goal does not take time, you need time to get ready for the Goal. The Destination is fixed, is sure, is guaranteed but how sure you are is guaranteed when no obstacles are big enough to stop you.
- It becomes easier to be patient when you become aware that it’s not about reaching the goal, it’s about sustaining the Goal.
Make your journey the Goal, not the Success
When success becomes your goal, the joy that you anticipate becomes temporary.
When you reach that one desired point that you had been working for, you come up with
What next?
And the next is the same journey.
You are there in that moment of success for a very short period and if you stop there, the success stops growing further.
What covers the maximum part of your goal is the Journey you are going to have.
When you attach yourself to that temporary state of success, the journey becomes harder.
The path that you walk is what you are going to have with you forever and success will exist only like little vanishing moments.
You cannot sustain success if you are not sustaining the Journey.
Failing is not Failure
You declare failure only and only when you quit and accept it.
Rest every time, it’s your potential that is challenged till you give the best shot.
Failing is inevitable but it does not block you from success.
Quitting is a choice and it confirms Failure.
What is Failing and What is Failure?
You cannot hit the target right from the get-go.
You will fail to get the nail right on target when you hit for the first 100 times.
And the reason is, you, being an amateur who hasn’t built the Skill enough to get the right shot, will fail at it.
It’s the knowledge, practice and Consistency that will help you get closer to the target.
You cannot control your pace to succeed but your success is guaranteed.
But when you fail, you are learning one wrong way.
The motive of failing is to make you find all the wrong ways of not doing it right and with that you will keep coming closer to the right way.
So, when does Failure come?
When you fail to do something several times and you fail to try again, your chance to quit increases.
This is when Failure is most prone.
So, when you fail at things, do not anticipate them as your failure.
You could not do a certain task in a certain time never meant you would never succeed in doing it.
It takes time to find the right way to give the right shot, until then keep failing.
Success is guaranteed when you don’t stop working when nothing works
To continue working when the work keeps meeting progress is easy.
It’s a deal when work is hindered and stymied.
The real assessment of your desire to achieve the goal is when you work when nothing works.
No matter how intelligent or talented you are, obstacles are never biased. They will obstruct your path, assess your perseverance.
Perseverance is when you override everything that comes your way to impede your progress, snatch your determination, kill your willingness, and leave you a Failure.
Whatever the Goal is, you cannot excel by just working on the specific skills that your Goal requires. When you build your inner self strong and unwavering towards your goal, rest everything becomes favourable.
I hope this blog post helps you reflect on your primary skills and focus on them as well.
